My name is Syrah Manwani, an Indian American who has grown up in California, Nigeria, and Dubai. My South Asian culture has always been an important part of who I am. I created this blog because I wanted to learn more about the South Asians who have made history in the United States. By highlighting South Asian “firsts” in areas like government, education, sports, and more, I hope to recognize people whose achievements are not always talked about. This blog is a way for me to connect more deeply with my culture while sharing the impact South Asians have had on American history.
